My Life Plan…

I’ve been in the Group Benefits and Retirement industry for over 25 years. I have my former VP at Alberta Blue Cross to thank for the opportunity. At the time, I was working in heavy construction in downtown Calgary on a major skyscraper. As most people know about me, I don’t like cold weather and I realized very quickly that working outside in Calgary winters was not in the cards for me.

I’ve worked for various insurance carriers as an Account Executive. In the last 15 years I’ve been on the consulting side of the business, where I feel I can really help employees and employers with their group insurance and retirement needs.

This is a people business that has allowed me to meet and help a lot of people over the years with their group benefits needs. I joined Apri because they are people focussed and that lines up with my values. I have enjoyed a long-term relationship with many of the principals of Apri, and am confident this move is most certainly in the best interest of our clients.

When I am not working, I enjoy golfing with my son and my buddies. As a family we enjoy traveling and frequently spend time in Arizona out of the cold weather. I’ve always said that I am the luckiest man in the world. I have a wonderful wife and two great kids that I am extremely proud of.

My Life Plan…

to help as many people as I can, so it’s no coincidence that I am now part of Apri, an organization that has the same philosophy.

After graduating from the University of Regina in 1993 with a Bachelor of Administrative degree, I knew that insurance was the path for me. I have loved it ever since. My experience spans several major insurance carriers where I enjoyed working in disability and group insurance and have been fortunate enough to build up many long lasting friendships and relationships.

I am also very proud to be fully involved locally and nationally with Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada that prepares, promotes and protects financial advisors in the public interest.

I have a wonderful wife, two children and one granddaughter who keep the days I’m not at work, just as fulfilling.  This, along with my passion for Canadian Blood Services (to date I have made over 400 donations and hope to continue) are further examples of my life’s motto: to be free to enjoy life with family and friends and to help as many people as I can along the way.
